Overview
We will depart from our pick-up point early in the morning and head towards the countryside of the Cotswolds. Our first stop will be the charming village of Bibury, a wonderfully attractive setting along the River Coln and a backdrop for blockbuster films, including Stardust and Bridget Jones’s Diary. Take a stroll along the picturesque cottages of Arlington Row, a quaint group of weaver’s cottages dating back to the 16th century. A visit to the Trout Farm is recommended, especially if you have children. They can enjoy feeding the trout while you relax with tea and cake on the terrace café.
Next, we’ll continue to Bourton-on-the-Water, also known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds.’ It’s regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, with its gorgeous bridges that cross the gently flowing River Windrush. A visit to the Model Village is a must, and if you’re a car enthusiast, a visit to the Motoring Museum is well worth it. You’ll have time for your lunch break here, with various café options in this magnificent town.
Finally, we’ll head towards the historical city of Oxford, located in central southern England, known for its prestigious university established in the 12th century. The architecture of its 38 colleges in the city’s medieval center led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the ‘City of Dreaming Spires.’ University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street. Here, you can enjoy some free time.
